This was followed by correspondence with physicians and public health au thorities in these countries; these reports were supple mented by reference to the voluminous literature of the subject on file in the library of the Surgeon General s Office, U. S. Army. The information thus gained is here sum marized. The geographic distribution of the infection is exhibited on maps I to 6.
