aBe Rooted in Cultural Emotions and Build China Dream Together: Ningxia Modern Drama Art Development Co.,Ltd., formerly known as Ningxia Modern Drama Troupe, was founded in 1958. During the period of 1960s to 1970s, the troupe was of the lowest average age and the highest average educational level among all the provincial-level modern drama performance troupes of China and was very influential in five provinces and autonomous regions of Northwest China and even the whole country. It has performed many dramas about which people are still delight in talking to this day and also has had the golden age when all seats were occupied. In 1980s, Ningxia Modern Drama Troupe encountered an unprecedented drama crisis like other modern drama performance troupes all over the country. The number of audiences dropped sharply. In 1983, there was only 8 performances throughout the year. In 1984, in order to get rid of the dilemma, the modern drama troupe carefully creates a drama like Hamlet written by Shakespeare with heavy investment according to the so-called pursuit of artists. As a result, in the rehearsal of the drama, there were only two audiences in the theater of 1080 seats. One was Director of Literature and Art, Department of Culture the other is Director of Literature and Art, Propaganda Department... We performed at a loss. The more we performed, the more we lost. What shall we do The harsh reality urged us to think calmly, where is the outlet of modern drama Where is the outlet of modern drama troupes of small provinces (autonomous regions) like Ningxia After thinking, we started from the actual situation of Ningxia and resolutely turned the key points of performance from cities where nobody watched dramas to the wide rural grassroots where people had no dramas to watch according to the creation principle of "e the three closeness"e on the basis of market research. To facilitate the farmers to watch dramas, we made the so-called China`s first mobile stage car-Caravan of Ningxia Modern Drama Troupe. In 1984, we carried out the reform of "e contract system of crew operation"e in 1997, we carried out the reform of entire-personnel recruitment system in 2009, we conducted the reorganization reform of transforming the troupe into enterprise. Through the three reforms, we greatly mobilized the cast members` enthusiasm of participating in the performance. For more than 20 years, the caravan team of Ningxia Modern Drama Troupe has run more than 700,000 kilometers and performed for more than 5400 times. The number of audiences is up to ten million. It has performed in 100% of townships (towns), colleges and universities, technical secondary schools, secondary schools and 80% of primary schools within the scope of the municipality for 15 times. Meanwhile, it has also sent dramas to the vast rural areas of provinces, municipalities and autonomous regions all over the country except for Sinkiang, Tibet, Heilongjiang and Jilin. Because the works created are close to the masses, life and reality, we are warmly welcomed by the broad masses of the people and highly appraised by experts of the industry and leaders at all levels. Because of the remarkable effectiveness of reform, we have received commendations and awards from the State Council, the Central Steering Committee for the Construction of Spiritual Civilization, the Propaganda Department of the Central Committee of the CPC, Ministry of Culture, Ministry of Personnel, State Ethnic Affairs Commission, party committee and government of the autonomous region and other departments. We were awarded the honorable titles such as "e National Advanced Collective of National Unity and Progression"e , "e National Advanced Collective of Construction of Spiritual Civilization"e , "e National May 1 Labor Medal"e , "e Excellent Grass-Roots Party Organization"e of the autonomous region and "e Excellent Grass-Roots Party Organization"e of national cultural system. We are also honored as a flag on the cultural front line of the country by Propaganda Department of the Central Committee of the CPC and Ministry of Culture.
