Anfang 1985 ruft ein Schüler meines Mannes aus Pelm glücksstrahlend: „Herr Merkelbach, wir kriegen in Pelm auf der Kasselburg eine Wildwasserbahn!“ Mein Mann hält das zuerst für den Witz des Jungen, fragt aber mal in der Kreisverwaltung nach. Dort erhält er die Auskunft, dass die Aussage des Schülers stimmt, dass alle Formalitäten erledigt sind und der Bau der Wildwasserbahn kurz bevorsteht. „Daran könnt ihr Grünen nichts ändern!“ So beginnen wir mit der Recherche, mein Mann als parteiloser Bürger von Pelm und ich als Mitglied im Bund für Umwelt und Naturschutz Deutschland (BUND). Fazit: Wenn man im Naturschutz aktiv war, war man eben ein Grüner. Eine spannende Story mitten aus dem 'Eifelleben'. Buch.
