A primeira chama-se O Campo de Wallenstein, é um Prólogo em 1 acto que se representa em 5 quartos de hora e tem as personagens mais diversas. É uma pintura do exército wallensteiniano, dá uma imagem da situação da Alemanha na Guerra dos 30 anos, mostra a disposição dos regimentos a favor e contra o general e destina-se a desenhar o terreno sobre o qual se desenrola o empreendimento de Wallenstein. Pode representar-se isolada, mas fica melhor se for associada à segunda peça. Esta segunda peça chama-se Os Piccolomini, do nome das duas personagens que mais intervêm. No fim tem um epílogo que forma a transição para a terceira peça. A terceira peça chama-se Queda e Morte de Wallenstein e é a tragédia propriamente dita.
