Evaluation of the nutritive value of some species of crustacea
ISBN: 9783659816505 bzw. 3659816507, vermutlich in Englisch, LAP Lambert Academic Publishing, Taschenbuch, neu.
Evaluation of the nutritive value of some species of crustacea: The edible crustaceans, Erugosquilla massavensis, Penaeus semisulcatus , Metapenaeus monoceros (shrimps) and Portunus pelagicus (crab), from different regions are important components of the aquatic fauna . These edible crustaceans can be beneficial as nutraceutical and pharmaceutical components, if we can use in the treatment of some diseases. So, the purpose of the present work was, therefore, to assess the protein, carbohydrates, and lipids, vitamins (B1, B2), minerals (K, Na, Ca, P, S) of these species, which may in the future play an important role in some pharmaceutical industries and may be used as specific health foods (functional supplements).Other species, crawfish Procambarus clarkii now represent a problem to the Egyptian fishermen, farmers and for the river Nile environment. Also, The present work showed that, it could be biologically managed through introducing it as cheap food that can contribute to aquatic animal proteins. Moreover, comparative studies were carried out with two high priced marine shrimps namely : Penaeus japonicus and Penaeus semisulcatus. The former was obtained from lake Quarun while the latter from the Suez Gulf. Englisch, Taschenbuch.

It was carried out also to evaluate the bioaccumulation process of the elements based on the Metal Pollution Index (MPI) as an attempt to use these organisms as bioindicators of pollution of Mediterranean Sea, Red Sea and the Arabian gulf and to ensure the seafood safety from these regions. The obtained results revealed that significant variations of Fe, Cu, Zn, Co, Hg, Pb and Cd levels in edible muscles of crustacean and mollusk organisms were observed at different localities surveyed, as well as between sex of each species and environmental areas. Also this work estimate the nutritive quality of mantis shrimp Erugosquilla massavensis and study the interrelationships between this newly introduced commercial edible crustacean and pollution. 72 pp. Englisch.
