Harrassowitz, 2014. Paperback. New Book. Paperback. Of the several types of Uighur Abhidharma texts in existence, Shogaito analyzes the Abhidharmasabhasya, the second longest. It was written by Vasubanbhu, and the Uighur text was translated during the Yuan Dynasty from Xuán Záng's (602-644 AD) Chinese translation. Sthiramati (510-570 or 480-540 AD) wrote the traditional commentary and it too was translated into Chinese and then into Uighur, but the Chinese intermediate text is no long complete, so Shogaito has had to draw on the Abhidharmasabhasya itself to understand some of the Buddhist terminology. This edition presents the Uighur text and English translation on facing pages. (2014 Ringgold, Inc., Portland, OR).
