Cormac McCarthy, best-selling author of National Book Award winner All the Pretty Horses, delivers his first new novel in seven years. Written in muscular prose, No Country for Old Men is a powerful tale of the West that moves at a blistering pace. Llewelyn Moss is hunting antelope near the Texas-Mexico border when he stumbles upon several dead men, a big stash of heroin, and more than two million dollars in cash. He takes off with the money, and the hunter becomes the haunted. A drug cartel hires a former Special Forces agent to track down the loot, and a ruthless killer joins the chase as well. Also looking for Moss is the aging Sheriff Bell, a World War II veteran who may be Moss' only hope for survival. Raw and lean, No Country for Old Men is another masterpiece from one of America's acclaimed novelists. 1. Language: English. Narrator: Tom Stechschulte. B E Trice, 2005 SIGNED, NUMBERED, QUARTER LEATHER LIMITED EDITION: 55 of just 325. Trice issued two limited editions of this novel; this is one of only three hundred and twenty five of a special worldwide edition. All were sold rapidly after the announcement of availability. Leather spine which wraps around the edges, with the title gilded, and with beautifully hand marbled boards front and back. Housed in a substantial perfect deep scarlet cloth slipcase, with a gilded version of Cormac McCarthy's signature. A worthily substantial and handsome edition of this remarkable novel, and yet another example from McCarthy of a book that does not conform to expectations. He is a supreme talent, creating the novels that will define us all in time. He is also, as is now well known, a reluctant signer. This is a stunning production from a company that takes the production of its books extremely seriously. This is assuredly a major collectable edition of Cormac McCarthy's work. Certainly, it is a gorgeously aesthetic one, too. The book reads like a movie, and it's no surprise the Coen Brothers fully appreciated the qualities of the author's dialogue and ended up using most of it. It is rare indeed to have a screenplay that contains such a high proportion of the written work. The film, of course, became a distinguished Oscar winning movie, and someone described it as 'The finest movie I expect to see this year'. So this very special edition is now a sought after rarity, and even more so because there are never going to be more copies precisely like these. This new copy has been opened only to check it out. Yes, the signature is there; yes, the number is filled in; and finally I opened it so I can look at it with sheer lust. Another little consideration is the quarter leather binding; leather is not too fond of an airless environment, and this copy is therefore offered without the covering seal. A tremendous book for the numerous dedicated enthusiasts of this author, as well as any collector of fine bindings. As this great writer goes on accumulating awards and prizes the message is getting through. Two Pulitzers are already there. Will there be a Nobel as well? Certainly, this particular Trice production is the one that most suits the dedicated Cormac collector. It is an outstanding example of fine book production, even from this highly respectable small press. It will stand as a benchmark for all serious pursuers of Comackiana. Quite frankly, this edition will bring the book lust out in whoever buys it. The great man is mean signer, as mentioned, and this means the pursuit of signed copies is getting tougher all the time. This example is simply extraordinary. Extra postage and insurance will be required. Language: eng Language: eng 0.0 Language: eng 0.0 Language: eng 0.0. Signed by Author(s). 1st Edition....
