The author was educated at Deerfield Academy, Amherst College, Middlebury College, Washington University in St. Louis and Columbia College. After the Second World War he went to the Sorbonne in Paris for three years under the GI Bill, and then on to the University of Florence in Italy, for two more. He was born in Boston in 1923, grew up in Northampton, where his mother taught at the Smith College Day School most of her life, and then went into the Armed Services on his twentieth birthday. He served as a radar/navigator in the 15 Air Force and led missions to Germany, Austria and Yugoslavia. For many years he played clarinet in small jazz combos - even broadcast once in Paris on the radio difusion Francaise. He is a well-known bird watcher. And he has been writing ever since he was a child. Articles, short stories and poems of his have been published far and wide, but he has yet to find a publisher for his novels. So in 1993 he decided to go it alone. He had no idea what he was doing, took just about his last dollar and had one thousand copies printed of a novel titled O.U.I. He recovered his entire investment in just twenty-seven days. Now he has fourteen books in print, some in third and fourth editions, and this book of poetry will be his fifteenth. Will some somnolent publisher ever awake? We'll see.
