The magic of Mystical Mountain begins in the Land of Someplace inside a palace on the edge of a Sacred Forest. This particular palace is home to four boys known as Ragtags; Judicious, Moplocks, Whispers and Relic. Unknown to most, especially the grown-ups, the Sacred Forest held many secrets of magic and mystery. Living among the brambles and vines are elves and faeries whose purpose is to watch over and protect the Land of Someplace. They grant the animals the ability to communicate, encourage the mushrooms to speak and cast spells of enchantment , prosperity, and happiness. One night when the moon was full, the two oldest Ragtags, Judicious and Moplocks, hid in the old gnarled tree on the hill- top. They watched and listened as the Elders, of the Little people, taught their Wee Ones the secrets of Spell Casting. The Knowledge Judicious and Moplocks gathered, on that long ago night, is forbidden to all except the Little-people inhabiting the hills and dales of Someplace. Spell casting is serious business. Judicious and Moplocks, thinking it would be great fun, used this forbidden knowledge to create and cast a spell they called Es'rever, (Reverse spelled backward). The results of Es'rever caused great discomfort and trouble for all in the Land of Someplace, clocks ran backward, the town was awake at night and slept all day, cats chased dogs, birds flew backward, water ran uphill, confusion reigned throughout the entire land. Andora, the mother of the Ragtags, called a family meeting and everyone agreed the only way to right the wrong of the mis- cast spell, Es'rever, required a Meeting of Knowledge with the wisest of all the land, The Wind Whiff of Mystical Mountain. Whispers and Relic, the two younger Ragtags, became involved because Whispers was the only one of the Ragtags with the ability to communicate without words, and Relic was wise in the ways of the elders. The logical choice was to have them be the ones to travel through the Sacred forest to The Meeting with Whiff.
