The author: Louis Lawrence, born in London in 1949, has been involved with Japanese works of art for more than twenty years. After leaving the university he developed a keen interest in the Orient. This has resulted in a fascination with Japanese art, particularly Meiji art, a period in which the Japanese achieved an artistic pinnacle, and his development as a major dealer, becoming founder director of Tempus Antiques Ltd.
