But, my Lord, the abuses of the press, monstrous and dangerous as they are, have been almost exceeded by the abuses of the right of petition. On this subject, I wish to detain your Lordship but a short time; as a perusal of the journals in ordinary use amongst the higher classes of society, may be sulficient to prove what I have stated. Referring to the abuses of the-right of petition, I shall request your attention, but to a few remarks on the correspondence between the proceedings connected with the reform meetings, and the lessons in the seditious papers. II.-Abuses of the Right of Petition.
