Excerpt: . . . two years ago, blossomed some last year, but set no fruit; the present year has borne about half a bushel of tine fruit. The tree is hardy, thrifty, a stout upright grower, and makes a beautiful head. The fruit is larger than Early Harvest; flesh more tender, less acid, melting, juicy, somewhat aromatic, a first rate dessert fruit, equal andpref-erable for those who like a sub-acid fruit best, but I is not equal to Early Harvest as a dessert, cooking and keeping fruit in my opinion. Fruit And Chills And Fetkb. --Our friend Egypt, who by the way, deserves much credit for his exhibition of fruit and stock at the State fair, and more for his improved appearance, personally, writes us in a note, as follows: I loaded my stock, grain, and fruit, etc. , on Friday evening, the laBt day of the fair. The car lay over Sunday at Springfield. Here I felt hot and feverish and more like having a chill than at any time during tho past fourteen years. Of course 1 missed the free use of fruit. But fortunately very fine watermelons were abundant and I ate them freely and found them a very soothing, pleasant and effective medicine. List or Apples For Adams County. --We recently visited the orchards belonging to Clark Chatten, near Quincy Illinois; and at our request be has made out the following list of apples and the number of trees of each variety he would select in planting an orchard of 100 trees He says in a note accompanying the list: In making the selection I have chosen those trees that seem to be the most abundant bearers and grow the largest and most marketable fruits There is such a variety of fruit to select from, that no douot many would differ with me in a part of my selection. But those I have chosen, I know to be good. . . This item ships from La Vergne,TN.
