Not illustrated.1836 Excerpt: ... cense therefor, and the stopping and suppressing the said suit, and of his receiving a letter from William Spencer, of Corinth, in said State of Vermont, respecting the suppression of said suit, the said Benjamin, by leave of Court, here, for this purpose, first had and obtained, according to the law in such case made and provided, says, that the said Titus ought not to have or maintain his aforesaid action thereof against him, because, he says, that before the composing and publishing the supposed libel, and while the said Titus was District Attorney for the said District of Vermont, as aforesaid, and before the session of the District Court of the United States, held at Windsor, for the District of Vermont, in May, in the year 1817, as in the said declaration mentioned, the said Titus Hutchinson, District Attorney as aforesaid, commenced a prosecution against one Jacob Brown, of said Corinth, in said District of Vermont, for selling foreign'distilled spirits without a license therefor, according to an act of Congress, then in force, for that purpose, made returnable to the said District Court, held at Windsor, within and for said District of Vermont, in May, in the year 1817, and during the session of the Circuit Court of the United States, held at Windsor aforesaid, in May, in the year last aforesaid, and about the time of the commencment of the session of the said District Court, in said May, in the year last aforesaid, to wit, on the twenty third day of said May, the said Titus received from William Spencer, of said Corinth, a letter, and opened and read the same, of which the following is a true copy:--"Corinth, May 22, 1817. Mr. Hutchinson, Sir:--The bearer, Mr. Jacob Brown, of this town, is sued to the District Court, for selling foreign distilled S...
