That in our judgment the Society is wisely and judiciously inanaged. and is entirely worthy of our support and cooperation. 2d. That we will in every suitable way commend the work of the Society to our people, and faithfully take the collections for the same. COMMITTEE. REPORT OF THE COMMITTEE ON SUNDAY SCHOOLS AND TRACTS. To the lllfchigan Annual Conference: DEAR Fxrnnss AND Bssrnnsn: ----While it is a great cause for rejoicing and thanksgiving that on every Sabbath there are assembled in the Sunday schools within the bounds of this Conference nearly 25,000 pupils, and that during the year past more than 1,200 conversions were reported from them, it is the opinion of your committee that we should at this time give our prayerful attenti-in to those things which we may be able to do as pastors to increase the efiiciency and power of these schools. We therefore recommend: 1st. That the pastors should take an active interest in the schools and their work, and inquire diligently into the nature of the doctrines taught in the school. In the teachers meeting they should so instruct the teachers as to the truths to be taught in any given lesson that the instruction imparted on the succeeding Sabbath may be wholesome and correct. o m They should keep a watchful eye upon the literature which finds a place upon the shelves of the library and the periodical list. It is made our duty by the discipline to use the catechism in our schools and organize Ohildren s Classes. Obedience to these injunctions is necessary to the strength and soundness of the church. 2d.
