I am inclined to believe that ti is really the remote demonstrative pronoun. SUBSTANTIVES. 3. There is a real declension in the Bornu language, made by postfixing syllables having no separate meaning, which form what we call dative, accusative, and ablative cases. The genitive case is usually known by its position only, and other modifications are made by prepositions, which appear, however, to be really nouns in regimine. 4. The genitive is placed after the case which governs it, as--bukru inki, glass of wine, 49, 1; kuku shitan-wa, noise of carriages, 25, 5; shindfatu, door of house, N. 74; kwmd fatu, master of house, 93, 3; kunlu tata-wa, childrens food, 97, 5. In the Treaty the genitive is supplied by the relative pronoun agu, singularly corroborative of the Rev. R. Garnetts theory of the genitive case. See kari agu Ifrigiya, things of Africa, 1. 4; bila-wa agu mayi, the towns of the king, 1. 39. References are made to the dialogues by two figures; the first denoting the page of the lithographed facsimile, the second the number of the line: these numbers are copied on the printed transcript. The references to the additional phrases are made by a single figure, preceded by N. 5. The dative case is made by ru, the accusative by ka, the ablative by bi or bin; as faturu, to the house, 94, 1; sandi-ka, them, 74, 3; Ji-bi, from the cow, 66, 5; musku-ndi-bin, with our hands, 76, 6; gidi-bm, in the east, Matt. ii. 9. A very common use of bi is to denote the object or relativeness of a noun, as in ingim kimum-bi, a sleeping-room, 24, 6; ibriki kiyam-bi, a jug f. . . This item ships from La Vergne,TN.
