Over time, political philosophers proposed alternatives: Socialist theorists sought to take power away from conservative authoritarians and give it to themselves so they could set everything aright; this caused the current Left versus Right divide and encouraged everyone to live the second commandment of socialism: boss your neighbor instead of yourself. Democratic republicans sought to eliminate authoritarian power altogether by establishing Liberty through limited government.
