And the woman found at the Vanderbilt Estate was lying among the rocks that were carved with so many tourists' names; her head was wedged in between two rocks and one of her legs was draped over another for an extremely ridiculous effect. All of them, the toxicology results revealed, died from venom; for some it was tarantula venom, and for others cobra venom was the responsible agent. Sarah tries to read the details of the crime scene as if it were a script of the killer's personality to discover what kind of person will kill using venom. This brings her into the fascinating world of snake smuggling in the hope of uncovering the killer's supply of venom and the possible trail to him. However, the murderer is someone she knows. And the profile slowly unfolds in excruciating detail before her eyes, making her understand the obsession that drove a very successful man to murder. She also learns a lot about herself. Each action the killer takes, down to the application of different blindfolds, is a manipulation and part of a game of power that gives him almost as much pleasure as murder when he holds her hostage.
