This is exactly what happened and the entire story is detailed in thier first book - DP or Bily and Jerry in The Promised Land. It is worth reading. This book picks up the story and details their decision to relocate the franchise from Bellingham, Washington to the Salem-Keizer, Oregon area. It tells about their determination to find a site and build their own ballpark in Keizer with the help of the City. All the events are detailed including the many heroes who steadfastly helped them, and the governmental and financial obtacles they had to overcome to succeed. And succeed they did. The brand new stadium was constructed in a farm field within six months from beginning to end. They opened the 1997 season as the Salem-Keizer Volcanoes (Class A affiliate of the San Francisco Giants). It is an achievement worthy of being called a miracle.
