This novel is designed to advance the Theory of Evolutionary Creation, which states that life on Earth was not a one time event, or cosmic accident, but an ongoing universal process without foreseeable end. The twists and turns as Amos struggles for recognition and attains fame is absorbing reading and well able to stand alone. However, the author interjects, almost non-intrusively, a wealth of new thought spiritual ideas and examines their possible effect. Specifically, the social, economic, and political changes that could occur if people realized they were co-creators in a universal creative effort. While not predicting utopia, the fictitious world Amos creates is a kinder, gentler society. Self esteem skyrockets and there is a drop in depression and suicides as people place a higher value on themselves and creative activities. There is an increase in concern for other people. other species, and the environment. In short, this novel showcases how a simple idea, like equating evolution with a continuous process of creation, orchestrated by unknown Creative Forces, can change just about everything. To sum up, Amos is pictured as fostering a society where people measured themselves against a yardstick of personal growth and use of talents, skills, and dreams. Life became a competition with oneself, not others and social norms. Status symbols, social position, material wealth and accumulations, became less important.
