Initially published 1989. The USA had not yet fully discovered the competitive sports and police dog value of the Malinois. Yet, continental Europe was in the early stages of engineering this breed to be, what it is today, a highly versatile canine. This research study examined the available competitive dog sports data on this (then) rare dog breed - the Malinois - to objectively determine and subsequently validate the emerging capabilities of this breed. This study describes the French dog sports of Ring, Campagne, R.C.I (IPO) and Tracking. Including, a first hand description of the 1989 "Cup of France" championship competition. The data provides information on the individual exercises, the scores, the dog's breed, age, sex, kennel and trainers. It features the Malinois, Teruveren, Groendael, Lakenois, Beauceron and German Shepherd Dog. This study also objectively examines the Belgian Shepherd Breeds (all varieties) participation in USA's Shutzhund Competition. Parts of this text were published in dog sport magazines and were referenced extensively by both writers and researchers. Only 17 copies of this study are currently available.
