Beautiful landscape compositions suggest the 'Kansai' but the people, who represent many ages and walks of life, might be those of almost any part of rural or suburban japan in the early occupation period. From these pictures a discerning viewer can gain the feel and beauty of an eternal Japan but can also understand through the nonverbal language of the camera the character of the inhabitants of these islands and how tey brought their country to the position of second industrial power in the free world.
