This is a bibliography of printed published works on Limerick city and county. It attempts to be a comprehenisve list of published works on Limerick history, literature, the arts including music, art, sport etc. It also lists bibliographical references to Limerick people (individual and family histories) and places throughout the city and county. References to the social and applied sciences as relevant to Limerick are also listed as are works relating to travel accounts of Limerick, archaeology and geography. Maps relating to Limerick including estate maps are also listed. This work aims to support researchers studying any aspect of Limerick. It facilitates research by making it easier for researchers to identify works on Limerick. A location for the references where known is also given. This bibliography was compiled by inspecting local Limerick repositories such as Limerick city library, Limerick county library, the University of Limerick, Mary Immaculate College Limerick and Limerick City (Kemmy) Museum. Library catalogs available over the internet were also inspected. These included all major library collections such as The British Library, The Library of Congress and The Bibliotheque Nationale. All Irish county library catalogs and all Irish university catalogs were also searched online for references to material of Limerick relevance. A comprehensive search of both book and journal articles was carried out. This book attempts to bring together in subject format references to Limerick in all its forms and will hopefully make it easier for the researcher to identify and locate relevant items. The author Margaret Franklin holds an M.A. in Local History from the University of Limerick and a Diploma in Library & Information Studies from the University College of Dublin. She is currently working on bringing out a new edition of her first book Tracing Your Limerick Ancestors (2003).
