Fine condition 1st Edition/1st Printing hardcover in Very Good condition dust jacket. Founded in 1787, the College of Physicians of Philadelphia, had, as its members, not just the most prominent physician-citizens of the time, but some of this country's founding fathers and great thinkers, including Benjamin Rush, Walter Reed, Oliver Wendell Holmes, and James Hutchinson. This lovely quarto includes black and white photographs of portraits and sculptures from the college's world-renowned collection and includes biographical portraits of both the subjects and the artists, as well as commentaries on the works of art themselves. The book and dust jacket are brand new although there are two tiny closed edge tears in the jacket, one of about 1/3" off the top edge of the back panel, and one of about 1/16" off the top edge of the spine and the mostly white jacket also has a few small marks. This book would make a lovely addition to the collection of any physician or anyone interested in the history of medicine. It will be bubble-wrapped and shipped in a sturdy box to ensure safe delivery. Books.
