This book is a documented account of the author's experiences over forty years of facing up to the US Government's attempts to discredit him, in order to discredit his writings. In formal logic, this is known as the fallacy, argumentum ad hominem. When a man's work is thought to be a threat if published, but cannot be faulted in its content or message, the powerful person or organization can call for the services of Institutional Psychiatry, whose charter today allows it to bypass due process of law. One example of how this obstructs justice is seen in Institutional Psychiatry's standard procedure of claiming that evidence is being withheld from the patient out of kindness -- that it would hurt him -- when there is no evidence of that kind, or any to support the diagnosis. The profession always tries to assume the role of benefactor, while stigmatizing for life a person whose sound mind has become a threat. Psychiatric slander has been used to discredit this author's integrity with unfounded accusations. When he refers to opponents, they are those who originated the accusations. Those persons who have believed the originator are also victims of slander, and deserve sympathy, as they procede through life on a false basis. If they pass the slander on to others the law sees them as guilty of slander even if they believe the lie to be true. As Hideous Idiocy exposes the false theories, fraud, and outright dishonesty that are a part of professional practice in Institutional Psychiatry, it highlights the drift toward totalitarian rule the profession represents, a point mentioned in Iconoclasm (the following title), which the US Government is also trying to suppress. With Institutional Psychiatry free to bypass due process of law, a nation that originally guaranteed its citizens justice under a rule of law is suffering an atavistic decline toward what it tried to escape at the time of its founding: arbitrary rule by men.
