A new book [in Chinese] to expose the complete story of the Second Sino-Japanese War (1931-1945) from comprehensive historical perspectives. A must-read for anyone to gain real understanding about what China had contributed to the final victory of the Allies during World War II. A Summary of Main Points: (1) Although, on the surface, Japan had overwhelming military power over China during the war, China continued to fight fiercely against Japan in an unprecedented all-out struggle. Almost every Chinese people, military or civilian personnel, men or women, even young school children were actively participating in the war against the brutal invaders. For eight long year, Japan failed to force China to surrender, and China refused any armistice arrangement, hence most of Japan's elite army forces (about 1.5 millions) were trapped in China Theater, and the final defeat of Japan by the Allies was only a foregone conclusion. (2) The book has not only restored the facts that it was the valor and perseverance of Chinese government and the people that finally brought victory over Japan, but also revealed the utterly horrible schemes conspired by the Soviet Union (Stalin), U.S. (Roosevelt and later Truman) and Britain (Churchill) to divide, weaken China during and right after the war, so that China could not become "a threat" to the colonial interests of the British Empire in Asia, Stalin would have a crony government of Chinese Communists to divide up China, and U.S. would maintain a dominant position over the whole Pacific region after the war. Gen. George Marshall and President Harry Truman were the main players to implement the Yalta's scheme and to see to the realization of a divided, civil-war torn China right after her hard-won victory over Japan, in spite of repeated and unequivocal warnings from General Albert Wedemeyer to the U.S. government. (General Wedemeyer was the Chief of Staff in China Theater during 1944-1945, and the head of a special mission to China in 1947.) (3)The author provides comprehensive reviews of the decisions made in the war and evaluations of alternative outcomes if the situations were handled differently. Hence today we can learn useful lessons from the past, and not to repeat the mistakes which have led to tragic events in history.
