This book is an edited version of the LAMS-2532 report written in 1946 and 1947 orignally titled Manhattan District History: Project Y, The Los Alamos project. Some material declassified sine the original 1947 eidtion has been added. Original factual material has not been changed. This volume tells an important part of the story of one of the greatest scientific achievements in history -- the story of the of the Laboratory at Los Alamos through the successful completion of its secret mission to create the first atomic bomb. Hawkins calls this work a biography of the bomb. Part 1 is titled Toward Trinity - Inception Through Mid-August 1945 by David Hawkins and consists of Chapters 1 thru 20. Part 2 is titled Beyond Trinity - August 1945 Through December 1946 by Truslow and Smith and consisty of Chapters 21 thru 30. Plus 25 pages folowing the index that includes graphs detailing personnl population, copies of critical correspondence (Groves, Conant, Oppenheimer), Layout of Techinical Area Buildings, Plot and Site Maps, Messages Confirming Bomb Results, and Project Detail Location Plan. There is a New Introduction by David Hawkins. This limited edition, produced with the cooperation of the Los Alamos laboreatory, is printed on Howard Permalife Olde White Text, bound in full buckram-type blue cloth, with blue Elephant Hide matching slipcase.
