Rodd's Catalogue was originally issued in six parts within which there were several supplements. In all, 19,058 items were listed for sale and they included biography, local history, sermons, oratory, Latin theses, poetry, music and dancing, novels, plays, dramatic tracts, Memory, ringing, artificial stones, and secrets in arts, and so forth. There were also listed 1,469 portraits and topographical prints. This volume reproduces the catalogues with some notes and an Index of the 145 categories listed by Rodd. The publisher notes in his brief introduction that " Sketchy as this work is in Bibliographical description, it is still the only lead to many publications. As such I regard it as essential to any central reference Library. Despite my own feelings on its validity, I am well aware that our firm will be lucky indeed if we sell 400 copies !" and it is thought the reprint was of no more than 500 copies.
