The text is illustrated with the occasional black-and-white photographs throughout the text. Brown coloured boards with gilt titles to the backstrip. Colour photographic dustwrapper, with pale yellow coloured background and dark brown titles to the front panel and brown and purple titles to the backstrip. The story of the greatest horse of the 1930s in Australasia -- Phar Lap. But not only the story of Phar Lap but also the machinations around him and his connections, death threats and of his eventual death in Mexico.  Minor bumping to the top backstrip edge and rubbing to the book corners. Some handling marks to the front fore text edge. Some rubbing to the dustwrapper edges and to the dustwrapper panels. Fading to the backstrip. There is a 4 inch tear to the top right-hand corner of the rear dustwrapper panel with associated creasing that their arcs in to the body of the dustwrapper and there is a smaller, 2", tear to the top left-hand corner of the same panel with the creasing between the two tears. Fading along the rear spine gutter edge and the top dustwrapper edge. Handling marks are also present. Black-and-white photograph of author to the rear fold over panel.
