Very Good 8vo (227 x 160mm / 8.9 x 6.4 inches) hardcover, no dust jacket issued, dark brown cloth with gilt lettering and three ships emblem of VRS on front board; prelims +304 + 8 pages including bibliography, index, information on VRS, black & white illustrations incl. frontis portrait photo of Waterston (1843-1932) taken in 1889. Lower corner of rear board has slight scuffing, else Fine. A Scottish teacher and the first woman doctor in South Africa, she was inspired by David Livingstone to train to become a doctor and missionary.
