The simple literal sense of exxMTot, which we translate church, is, an assembly of men called together, whether on a civil, or religious occasion. And it is frequently used in both senses, both in the scriptures, and in the ancient Greek writers. But Christian commonly consine the word to religious. worshipping assemblies only.
