Er überredet diesen mittels einiger Kirsch-Schnäpse zum Kartenspiel, bei dem er betrügt und deshalb auch gewinnt. Der Lohn ist ein Aufschub bis zum 90. Geburtstag. Der Tod zieht frustriert von dannen, wird aber von den himmlischen Mächten sehr gerügt und zurück geschickt, den Brandner umgehend abzuholen. Mit einiger Mühe und Überredungskunst gelingt es dem Boandlkramer den Brandner zu einer Spazierfahrt mitzunehmen, von wo aus dieser Einblick ins Paradies genießt.
