A second look translates the buildings into their true stature: Hundreds of monuments to the crimes against humanity that took place within the city with the help of its authorities .Paris does not deny its past, numerous events in its history are engraved on its facades, but here we focus for the first time on documenting hundreds of residential buildings with personal commemorative plaques in memory of victims of the Nazi Occupation [1940-1945]. This Documentation exposes many of the only authentic monuments in Paris: the individual plaques affixed in real time, not by decision of municipal councils which filters and interpret the memorials. Those Plaques mark the big demographic change Paris has gone through. The Holocaust remains an eternal stain on many cities ,and it plays a major role in their collective memory each one in its own way.Sixty years after the Holocaust official end, when studies, practical coping, ignorance and denial are marching hand in hand with a frightening serenity. We hope that this document will be as an additional viewpoint on Collective memory. As Israelis the issue is expending its borders, offering insights into our lives in the here and now. Paris is only a metaphor. By defining this book as documents, is to encourage the reader to consider it as a puzzle, in which one can focus on a different chapter each time, the order is up to the reader to decide.The 600 colored photographs which are the core of this book, have been taken deliberately to document the passing gaze of the pedestrian whose constant companion is the camera which attempts to fix the object in the personal memory forever.
