High-calibre objects from the extensive collection are explained in generally comprehensible terms, and also shown in their original context through numerous in situ photographs. The exhibition makes a splendid plea for granting all cultures parity of esteem. Das Kölner Rautenstrauch-Joest-Museum gehört seit gut hundert Jahren zu den führenden ethnologischen Museen in Europa. Ab Herbst 2010 präsentiert es in einem Neubau sein innovatives Ausstellungskonzept: Im Mittelpunkt des neuen Ausstellungsparcours' stehen nicht geografische Großräume, sondern Themen, die Einblicke in die Lebensgestaltung von Menschen in allen Teilen der Welt vermitteln.
