Wolfe (2022)
ISBN: 9783424203233 bzw. 3424203238, vermutlich in Englisch, Diederichs, München, Deutschland, neu, E-Book, elektronischer Download.
Living next door, they were a recipe for disaster. Wolfe was all wrong for Ella, but he still wanted her. He had an MC to run, and anything serious was out of the question. Ella, a social butterfly, thought she could handle a no-strings-attached arrangement. But being with Wolfe only made her crave more. They should never have given in to temptation. Could they find a way to be happy? Excerpt "So, where's Demo?" Her gaze moved past me further into my house as she looked for him. Demo sometimes went on the hunt with Knuckles and Buck when they were on a job. He had the fucking skills of a bloodhound. "With one of my brothers, and I'd appreciate you leaving my dog alone. Gettin' fucking tired of having to fetch him." I started to close the door. "Thanks for the brownies," I added as an afterthought. "Can I ask you a question?" she rushed out, causing me to pause from shutting the door. I looked back at her reluctantly and raised a brow indicating for her to go on. "Why are you such an asshole?" I recognize the slight hurt in her eyes, but I had to give her credit for the tilt of her chin, which indicated her resolve to stay strong. I felt my face crack into an unwilling grin at her boldness to call me out. "I ask myself that all the time." Her eyes widened. "Oh, my God, you can smile!" Her eyes danced with amusement. "I was beginning to think that perpetual scowl was painted on your face." My scowl returned as I was reminded of why I was going out of my way to not like her. "You should smile more often." She bit down on the corner of her bottom lip, drawing my eyes there. My dick punched forward and I grunted. I was within five seconds of grabbing her and doing something stupid. Thank fuck I was holding the plate. It kept me grounded. "Maybe if I wasn't being bothered by my neighbors I'd have more to smile about." Slowly her smile disappeared and her face fell as the hurt returned to her eyes. I felt instant regret, and then anger at myself for being an ass. My mom would have hit me upside the head for my actions if she could see me right now. I'd have deserved it.

What We Can Know (2025)
ISBN: 9783424203233 bzw. 3424203238, vermutlich in Englisch, Diederichs, München, Deutschland, neu, Hörbuch, elektronischer Download.
Brought to you by Penguin. In a world submerged by rising seas, What We Can Know spans the past, present and future to ask profound questions about who we are and where we are going. 2014: A great poem is read aloud and never heard again. For generations, people speculate about its message, but no copy has yet been found. 2119: The lowlands of the UK have been submerged by rising seas. Those who survive are haunted by the richness of the world that has been lost. Tom Metcalfe, a scholar at the University of the South Downs, part of Britain's remaining archipelagos, pores over the archives of the early twenty-first century, captivated by the freedoms and possibilities of human life at its zenith. When he stumbles across a clue that may lead to the great lost poem, revelations of entangled love and a brutal crime emerge, destroying his assumptions about a story he thought he knew intimately. A quest, a literary thriller and a love story, What We Can Know is a masterpiece that reclaims the present from our sense of looming catastrophe, and imagines a future world where all is not quite lost. Globally recognized expert on learning and leadership, Jeff Wetzler offers a hands-on, surprisingly effective way to find out what others really think, know, and feel. Ask leads to smarter decisions, more creative solutions, and deeper relationships. Too often, we don’t find out what’s truly on others’ hearts and minds because we don’t know how to ask the right questions in the right ways. Co-founder of Transcend and former international business consultant and Teach for America executive Jeff Wetzler wants to show you how to fix that. In Ask, he brings you a powerful method called The Ask Approach™, based on a simple premise: that tapping into what other people truly think, know, and feel is a game-changing superpower. In Section I, Wetzler reveals the most common things that people think and feel but often keep to themselves, as well as the key reasons why they choose to withhold information that could be valuable to you and your organization. Section II delves into the five steps of the Ask Approach, each answering an essential question. Choose Curiosity: How can you awaken your curiosity to make new discoveries and unexpected connections? Make it Safe: How do you make it easier for people to tell you hard things? Pose Quality Questions: What questions will best tap into the wisdom of anyone you ask? Listen to Learn: How can you hear what someone is really trying to tell you? Reflect & Reconnect: How do you turn talk into action? Section III helps you make asking an everyday superpower – not only for yourself but also for your team and organization, as well as for the next generation and society at large. The skills and messages of Ask could not be more timely. In a fast-changing world where AI is supplanting an increasing range of skills, the ability to learn from and connect with other people is one of the most important, fulfilling and uniquely human capabilities to master. .

It helps you find clarity within yourself regardless of where you are in life.”—Torrey Smith, Philadelphia Eagles, Super Bowl XLVII champion Why do some people live an extraordinary life while others never really feel fulfilled? A City on Mars: Can we settle space, should we settle space, and have we really thought this through? (Unabridged) (2023)
ISBN: 9783424203233 bzw. 3424203238, vermutlich in Englisch, Diederichs, München, Deutschland, neu, Hörbuch, elektronischer Download.
* THE INSTANT NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER * Scientific American’s #1 Book for 2023 * A New York Times Book Review Editors' Choice * A Times Best Science and Environment Book of 2023 * “Helpfully pulls back the curtain on some of the lesser-discussed challenges to humanity’s off-Earth pursuits . . . Any reader enthusiastic about space settlement will find much to appreciate in this book . . . [The Weinersmiths] write with a confident belief that humanity will one day travel off-planet.” –Science From the bestselling authors of Soonish, a brilliant and hilarious off-world investigation into space settlement Earth is not well. The promise of starting life anew somewhere far, far away—no climate change, no war, no Twitter—beckons, and settling the stars finally seems within our grasp. Or is it? Critically acclaimed, bestselling authors Kelly and Zach Weinersmith set out to write the essential guide to a glorious future of space settlements, but after years of research, they aren’t so sure it’s a good idea. Space technologies and space business are progressing fast, but we lack the knowledge needed to have space kids, build space farms, and create space nations in a way that doesn’t spark conflict back home. In a world hurtling toward human expansion into space, A City on Mars investigates whether the dream of new worlds won’t create nightmares, both for settlers and the people they leave behind. In the process, the Weinersmiths answer every question about space you’ve ever wondered about, and many you’ve never considered: Can you make babies in space? Should corporations govern space settlements? What about space war? Are we headed for a housing crisis on the Moon’s Peaks of Eternal Light—and what happens if you’re left in the Craters of Eternal Darkness? Why do astronauts love taco sauce? Speaking of meals, what’s the legal status of space cannibalism? With deep expertise and a winning sense of humor, the Weinersmiths investigate perhaps the biggest questions humanity will ever ask itself—whether and how to become multiplanetary. Get in, we’re going to Mars.
