The Restoration was a period surprisingly rich in fiction, and the years between 1660 and 1700 witnessed the decline of the epic and the birth of the English novel. With the exception of Bunyan and Aphra Behn, most of the novelists of this period have received relatively little attention. Thus, this book will be a valuable guide for scholars conducting research in this growing area of interest.
