In the first book Dusty is anxious to be up and about and tries to attract mum’s attention by thumping and clanging his bowl. When she finally gives in, as the noise is driving her mad and she lets him out, Dusty quickly runs to the shed to investigate. Here he inadvertently breaks Susie spider’s web. She is very angry about this and whilst he is dozing in the sun, she climbs on his back and runs all over his body tickling him. He finally gets rid of Susie, but is then in trouble again when he tries to run off with one of the biscuits mum has put on a stool along with the pot of tea. It isn"t really his fault that the tea pot gets smashed, it’s mum’s for making him jump by shouting at him. He gets back into mum’s good books when Matty mouse tries to steal his biscuit and he chases him out of the shed. Mum is pleased the mouse has gone from the shed. Bedtime comes too quickly, but it’s no good hiding behind the compost bin because that nasty scratchy broom soon pushes him out. Oh well there’s always tomorrow!
